Our Mission & Values

5027mac exists to give Drexel students a platform to publish, edit, and grow as writers. Through the Drexel Publishing Group, we support emerging voices and connect them with the broader Philadelphia writing community.

We value student-led storytelling, editorial curiosity, and a welcoming space for first-time contributors alongside seasoned writers.

5027mac serves as a student-run space within the Drexel Publishing Group, offering a fresh perspective on campus happenings and the broader cultural landscape of Philadelphia. The blog is written by students who balance their academic lives with a passion for storytelling, covering everything from university news to the local arts scene. It provides an outlet for young writers to develop their voice while keeping the Drexel community informed about events, trends, and conversations that matter to them. The result is a publication that feels both personal and grounded in the everyday experiences of college life in the city.

The writing life is a central theme at 5027mac, where contributors explore the craft of putting words to page in an honest and relatable way. Posts often reflect on the challenges and joys of writing, from overcoming creative blocks to celebrating small victories in a writer's journey. The blog creates a supportive environment for students to share their work and learn from one another, fostering a sense of community among those who love language. It is a place where the process of writing is valued as much as the finished piece, encouraging growth and experimentation.

Beyond campus, 5027mac engages with the city of Philadelphia and the neighborhoods that give it character. The blog covers local culture, music, and the diverse communities that make up the urban landscape. Writers bring their own experiences to bear, whether reflecting on a summer spent exploring different parts of the city or noticing the small details that define a street or a gathering spot. This city-focused coverage helps students feel connected to Philadelphia beyond the university gates, offering a wider lens on life in a dynamic and historic place.

Life-at-large is the third editorial lane that rounds out the 5027mac perspective, touching on broader cultural topics that resonate with a young, curious audience. Whether discussing friendship, music, or the experience of navigating difficult conversations, the blog aims to capture the texture of everyday life. The tone is thoughtful without being heavy, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences. By blending personal narrative with cultural commentary, 5027mac creates content that feels timely and relevant, speaking to the interests and concerns of students navigating both college and the world around them.
